Graphic Design Intern

We provide utilities with a software platform that allows them to deliver distributed generation programs like energy efficiency and solar to their customers and are looking for a Graphic Designer intern to help us.

As a Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for designing and improving various images that have a high visual impact. This role is responsible for choosing the appropriate media and style to meet our design goals, such as display graphics, promotional banners and online advertising, as well as optimization for our business platform products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop internal design templates for presentations and corporate collateral
  • Providing and maintaining the creative vision for our site products and tools and marketing programs
  • Creating graphic designs for promotional and informational efforts
  • Develop graphics for product illustrations, logos, and websites
  • Performing continual quality checks of design of all Web sites and making recommendations for revisions, as needed
  • Design and retouch images

Qualifications

  • You are passionate and open-minded about the energy industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to explain why a design works or why it doesn't
  • Optional interaction design skills: wireframing, prototyping, HTML5, CSS3
  • Basic understanding of user experience and user interface

Policy and Business Development Analyst - Intern


Brooklyn, NY

ProjectEconomics is a growing company working at the intersection of energy, finance and policy. We provide utilities with a software platform that allows them to deliver distributed generation programs like energy efficiency and solar to their customers and are looking for an Energy Policy and Business Development Analyst to help us.

In this position you will analyze the current North American clean energy policy landscape to determine states and provinces that represent the best opportunities for distributed generation programs like deep retrofit energy efficiency, oil-to-gas conversions, solar rooftops, and electric vehicle infrastructures.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and parse existing data in DSIRE and ACEEE renewable energy databases
  • Cull public data into qualitative and quantitative research for presentation to management
  • Participate in the strategic discussions surrounding the research
  • Prioritize research and seek new sources of data
  • Contribute to our internal knowledge base of policy and data assets

Qualifications

  • You are passionate and open-minded about the energy industry.
  • Experience working in the utility industry or demonstated understanding of utility industry concepts like avoided cost, LMP, dispatch, load duration, capacity markets, DTCs, LSEs, ISOs and RSOs
  • Experience working with environmental commodities or deep understanding of environmental commodity markets and instruments like RECs SRECs, WhiteTags, Offsets, Carbon Credits
  • Experience working in energy policy or deep understanding of RPS, EEPS, RGGI, CA32, Cost Recovery, Regulatory Frameworks, Cap and Trade, Carbon Taxes
  • You have an Bachelors or Masters degree (preferred) in a relevant field and substantial work experience
  • You are extremely comfortable in a distrubuted work environment and have complete command of MS Office, mobile productivity, and GoogleDocs environment
  • Demonstrated fluency (the ability to read, write and edit) HTML and CSS
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Can present findings concisely and effectively

Full Stack Java Developer - Intern

Apart from valuable work experience in the clean energy domain we offer the opportunity to improve your full-stack development skills by working side-by-side with our existing team of elite software engineers. As a Full Stack Java Developer you will work on feature development, improvements to our framework, and performance enhancements to the application.

Responsibilities

  • Feature and performance development tasks across the full application stack
  • Assist with the development of our ORM persistence layer as it relates to caching and in a distributed hardware environment
  • Write Junit tests, setup our test environment, and generally help migrate our development paradigm from agile to test driven
  • Assist with our conversion from Ant to Maven
  • Explore UI solutions, UI mockups, storyboards. Build UX flows, prototypes, wireframes and write specs for front-end developers
  • Develop penetration testing and network perimeter security procedures and reporting

Required Skills

  • Several years experience developing Java based web applications
  • Strong computer science fundamentals. Understanding of data structures and software patterns
  • Complete familiarity with Linux
  • Several years experience working with the Spring Framework
  • Demonstrated ability to code in JQuery, Javascript, CSS, HTML
  • Complete comfort and ability with either Eclipse or IntelliJ

Desired Skills

  • Experience and strong understanding of Ajax, Json and Rest
  • Ability to write shell scripts and manage servers in a Linux environment
  • Experience working with version control and source code management tools like Github and Subversion
  • Experience working with build management tools like Ant and Maven

UI/UX Front-End Developer - Intern

As a UI / UX Front-End Product Development intern you will work to make the existing code base more consistent and available across platforms (mobile, browser and OS). You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to new UI / UX product development in both mobile and traditional environments.

Responsibilities

  • Improve the cross-browser functionality of all web and mobile applications
  • Create company-wide UI/UX guidelines, style guide and iconography palette for developers and staff
  • Explore UI solutions, UI mockups, storyboards. Build UX flows, prototypes, wireframes and write specs for developers
  • Lead user testing sessions and incorporate findings into your designs

Clean Energy Social Media and Outreach - Intern

We’re looking for a candidate to create and maintain a social media presence for our customer-facing community solar product. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the clean energy space, a love of all things social, and have a knack for event planning and community development. You will be building our social media strategy from the ground up with a potential opportunity to go full-time, so if you have a desire to learn and love a good challenge, let’s chat.

  • Develop a social media presence for our community solar brand
  • Organize events to expand our brand
  • Understand the clean energy space and translate complex policy & concepts to engaging, consumer-friendly content
